Cheap self storage units near Elmers End
The district of Elmers End was first recognised during the reign of Henry III (1216 – 1272) and was owned by a man named Ralph Aylmer (who gave his name to the village). In 1864, Elmers End railway station was opened, but the area was still quite rural until a sewage farm saw houses built up into the 20th century. This farm was then closed in the 1960s and was later turn into what is now South Norwood Country Park.
Speaking of, you might want to take a stroll around this country park if you’re in the area. Brought your dog or a bike? Even better! There’s also the smaller Kelsey park, which has a pond and lovely café – perfect for a family afternoon. Foodwise, you’ll find an array of tasty eateries to try, from Italian pizzerias to Thai food. There’s even a Ghanian restaurant in town!
Elemers End is only a small area, so we can’t say it’s got a “claim to fame” of its own. However, nearby Beckenham was once home to the late David Bowie and his old experimental Arts Lab Club. The pub that played host to this club, the Three Tuns, is sadly closed – a Zizzi restaurant has taken its place. But, if you find yourself in there for a bite to eat, you’ll notice the tables and walls covered in homages to the pop legend.
