Taking Christmas lights to a whole new level, The Magic Lantern Festival at Chiswick House Gardens is a must-do if you’re going to be in London over Christmas.
The festival, which will run from 24 November to 1 January features hundreds of handmade, illuminated lanterns, unique grottos, rides and a Christmas market. There is even a Santa’s grotto and a selection of food and drink vendors to make sure you don’t go hungry as you explore the 65 acres of Christmas lights and fun.
Who knows, the festival might even inspire you to turn your own garden into a magical wonderland this Christmas. There’s nothing quite like a Christmas-themed play to get you in a celebratory mood. A great option is Antic Disposition’s musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ festive classic A Christmas Carol which will be on at Middle Temple Hall this December.
The show combines the ghostly tale of miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, with a score of original songs inspired by the carols of a traditional Victorian Christmas. It returns to the London stage for a fourth time this year, after having sold out in 2012, 2014 and 2015.

Get together with friends and family and take a stroll along the sparkling trail that’s more than a mile long!
