Brits choose the most obvious hiding places for gifts, a survey released today revealed.

Stats show that the majority of Brits still stash pressies under the bed and in the cupboard under the stairs, the first places children choose for a sneaky peek.

In a survey by Access Self Storage, over 43 per cent of parents said their poor gift hiding skills had resulted in children finding presents early.

More creative hiding places highlighted in the survey included in the cat’s basket, in a cereal box and even inside an acoustic guitar!

With over 44% of parents admitting forgetting where they’ve hidden presents, it’s no wonder they choose the most obvious places to hide presents.

Helen Brennan from Access Self Storage who conducted the survey said:
“Obviously parents are frightened of forgetting where they’ve put presents, but Brits need to make more of an effort to find better hiding places to avoid surprises being spoilt.”

1. Take more time to think about where to hide presents; avoid under beds and under stairs.
2. Send yourself an email reminder of what you’ve put where!
3. Store presents above the children’s eye level; keeping them up high up means they are less. likely to come across them whilst rummaging for something else.
4. If you’ve got lots of presents to hide, share a storage unit with family or friends.
